How often should I use?
Treatment duration and frequency will vary depending on type of treatment. For any medically necessary treatments such as postural drainage or prescribed physical therapy, consult with your medical provider and follow any guidance for your unique treatment plan. Is this considered a medical device?
Yes, all General Physiotherapy (G5) devices are FDA-cleared medical devices. They are designed for treating serious respiratory conditions like COPD and Cystic Fibrosis, yet are also safe and effective for personal, non-prescription use as therapeutic massage devices.
Can I use my G5 Massager without an applicator?
No, G5 massagers are not recommended for use without an applicator. Each General Physiotherapy device includes a customizable applicator package during purchase. Additional applicators are available for individual purchase on our website.

Can I take my device on a plane?
Yes, most G5 models are travel-friendly. However, the ZX-1 and ZX-2 models include lithium-ion batteries, which may be subject to airline-specific restrictions. Please check with your airline for guidelines on carrying lithium battery-powered devices.

Are General Physiotherapy devices FSA/HSA eligible?
Yes, since all General Physiotherapy devices are FDA-cleared, they are eligible for FSA & HSA reimbursement. Medical professionals can prescribe you our devices for a variety of treatments. For example, they can use CPT Code 99070 for prescribing our devices for use in orthopedic treatments or the HCPCS code E0480 for respiratory home care.
How do I change the applicators on my device?
Changing applicators is simple. Just unscrew the current applicator by turning it counterclockwise, then screw on the new one.
How do I file a warranty claim or request service?
Please fill out our Warranty & Service Request Form. Include your device’s serial number, a detailed issue description, and any supporting photos or videos.

How long has General Physiotherapy been making G5 massagers?
Since 1958. Invented by engineer Henri Cuinier to help his wife manage COPD, our original G5 percussor pioneered the oscillating percussion motion used globally today in respiratory and musculoskeletal therapy.
What is the Neocussor used for in neonatal care?
Lung infections are a leading cause of death for neonates. The Neocussor helps clear bronchial secretions from premature infants’ lungs—critical in reducing complications from respiratory infections in neonates. Which has been shown to improve health outcomes for premature babies.
Are there side effects of using a percussion massager?
Though no significant side effects are identified under normal use, individuals with the following health conditions that should not use medical percussors. They include:
Acute inflammation
Hemorrhaging areas
Skin lesions
Malignant lesions
During pregnancy or intention to get pregnant
Thrombophlebitis
Lymphangitis
Poor heart conditions
Usage of a Pace maker
Varicose veins
On individuals with an intolerance to vibrations

What’s the difference between percussion and vibration massagers?
Vibration Massagers: Use rapid oscillations or side-to-side movements to create a high-frequency, low-amplitude motion. The head usually stays in contact with the skin and vibrates in place.
Percussion Massagers: Use a piston-like motion to drive the massage head in and out (up and down), creating a pounding or tapping effect. This motion tends to be deeper and more forceful.
General Physiotherapy’s Stand Machines and ZX-2 deliver a unique combination of both vibration and percussive massage using our patent oscillating percussion. This delivers and more effective massage than simple vibration, but is more gentle than just a percussion massager. Additionally, due to the oscillation of the percussion, it creates a directional percussion which allows patients to drain edema & lymphatic fluids and bronchial secretions in a specific direction.

Can G5 massage tighten the skin?
Yes. The vibratory action increases local skin temperature, boosts circulation, stimulates dermal cells, and promotes skin revitalization—making G5 massage beneficial for cosmetic as well as therapeutic goals.
When will I receive my order?
Most orders ship within 3–5 business days. As a made-to-order product, delays can occur. Your order confirmation will include an estimated ship date.
Can I buy an extended warranty for personal/home use?
We don’t currently offer extended warranties, though some authorized distributors may. Please check with your retailer.
My G5 unit stopped working. Can it be repaired?
Yes, we repair many models—even those from the 1960s! Fill out our service form and include your device’s serial number, issue description, and a photo showing the serial number and power cord area. Additional costs apply. Please allow 1-2 business days for a response at which point we may ask some additional follow up questions. To help facilitate our troubleshooting.
What if my item is backordered?
If your item is on backorder, we will notify you via email with an updated shipping timeline. You're welcome to contact our support team for status updates.
Do you offer sample or demo machines?
No, we currently do not provide sample units.
What if my warranty has expired?
We offer replacement parts for most G5 devices. Many repairs are simple and can be completed at home. For assistance or service, submit a repair request with photos and serial number.
Where can I find my part number?
Part numbers are listed in the Catalogue for your specific device, and on our website.
Where can I find my serial number?
The serial number is located on the back of your device near where the power cord enters for our stand units. It will be on the placard or label affixed to the housing. For our handheld devices you can find your serial number in the battery housing or the head of the device.
Do you sell refurbished devices?
We do not sell refurbished units. All products purchased directly from General Physiotherapy, Inc. are brand-new and manufactured to our quality standards.
However, refurbished or pre-owned devices may be available through third-party sellers. If you choose to purchase from an outside source, please be aware that condition, authenticity, and previous service history may vary, and these units may not be eligible for warranty coverage or official support.
For the most reliable performance and full warranty protection, we always recommend purchasing new devices directly from us or our authorized partners.
